Couples Counseling

What if the problem isn’t that you’re wrong for each other—but that you’ve gotten caught in a cycle that neither of you knows how to get out of?

Many couples I work with find themselves caught in a painful pattern: one partner criticizes, pursues, or pushes for connection, while the other feels overwhelmed, shuts down, or withdraws. The more one reaches, the more the other retreats. The more one withdraws, the more the other feels alone and pushes harder, or eventually burns out.

Over time, both partners can begin to feel misunderstood, unheard, and emotionally unsafe—even when underneath it all, both are longing for the same thing: to feel loved, valued, understood, and secure with the person who matters most.

In our work together, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you slow this cycle down and understand what is really happening underneath the criticism and withdrawal. Instead of getting stuck arguing about who is right, we’ll begin to uncover the more vulnerable experiences beneath the conflict—the fear, hurt, loneliness, disappointment, or longing that can be difficult to express in the heat of an argument.

I want to help you become a soft landing spot for one another—a place where vulnerability is met with care rather than criticism, where reaching for connection doesn’t lead to withdrawal, and where both of you can feel safe enough to say what you really need.
